TSD measurements in Australia
The Danish Traffic Speed Deflectometer (TSD) owned by the Danish Road Directorate (DRD) will soon measure Down Under
in Australia. DRD has just signed a contract with the Australian states, New South Wales and Queensland regarding bearing capacity of more than 18000
km of roads. The co-operation is a great step forward for the Danish road research.
As a consequence of the agreement, the Danish TSD is being shipped off to Australia to measure the bearing capacity and hence the durability of the
roads in question. This task has already been successfully undertaken on the Danish road network in the latter years and holds a promise of saving
a lot of money on road maintenance.
